The Wedding Diaries: Let's See If I Could Still Say the Same 3 Months From Now

By Sarah Aterrado - November 27, 2018

I suppose the wedding preps should have gotten me busy. But truthfully, I have no excuse for not posting regularly.

Honestly, Jan and I haven't gotten far with the wedding preparations. We'd love to think we're busy but all we’ve been doing is play Big Fish. Yes, that terrible messenger game that does nothing but spam and steal time. And we can't stop.

We still have six months to go—which caused a bit of panic to my friends who have gone great lengths to prepare for their big day. Don't fret! We have made progress, of course! We have already scoured the jewelers for our rings (okay, we only went to one). And drove around the city to do ocular inspections of the possible venues (okay, again, we only went to one). What can I say? We were sold. Immediately.

I am not really hard to please, so it's quite easy for us to decide on things. Deciding who to invite, however, has proven the most difficult task so far. For the first time in my life, I regret having too many friends. Haha.

We haven't really put a lot of pressure on ourselves because we just want to keep everything simple. I know we should give our wedding day the importance it deserves. But for us, whatever fancy doesn't really have an impact in our marriage. I have nothing against people who go all-out fairy tale on wedding days, but we'd rather spend the money on travel or for our home (we visited the site and it has made a lot of progress, by the way).
Macau, 2017. Where to next? Japan? New Zealand? South Korea?
It may sound like I'm not psyched about our wedding day, but I really am. And it can't be denied that I am pretty excited to be doing the invitation and some decors myself to lessen the expenses. I already have a lot of things in mind. I just hope I don't get overwhelmed that I might end up not doing anything at all.

I do not dream of a grand wedding. As long as I get to walk down the aisle in my sneakers, exchange vows with Jan, and get our friends drunk at the end of the day, that's more than enough for me.

  3. I came here by accident (looking for Mt. Capistrano information and yours was the first one that came up). I already read a lot of your posts (stalker mode here) and I really love reading your blog. I like the way you express your thoughts. Funny in a way.

Anyway enjoy the preparations. It will be stressful but I tell you it's worth it.
