Pusan Point: Where the Sun Shines First

By Sarah Aterrado - June 18, 2017

Just when I thought there won't be any travels for me in the next two months, the curse month really has its way of telling me that things will never go my way because I just found myself traveling to the easternmost point of the Philippines only to have my breath be taken away by this gorgeous sunrise.

I've known Pusan Point when it became the venue for people to gather and catch the first sunrise of the new millennium. And until this very day, people still go there to be the very first one to catch a glimpse of the sunrise.

I've been to Davao Oriental a few times before but I've never been to Pusan Point. So when given the opportunity to travel there, I've never - not in a single heart beat - thought of missing it, even if it means traveling alone (humabol lang kasi ako).

Just so you know, I don't like traveling alone. But I'm glad I endured a 6-hour boring bus ride (I missed the nonstop one) going to Mati to meet up with fellow Davao bloggers who already spent two days getting awestruck at the wondrous but mostly underrated places of Davao Oriental.

Davao Oriental has a lot of wonderful places to offer. And Pusan Point in Caraga is one of them. I was left with nothing but admiration. I was consumed with awe. Sunrise. Pacific Ocean. Cool Breeze. Perfect weather. It was indeed a golden moment.

And when the sun rose up, beautiful cliff formations surprised us. It reminded me of Bali's Uluwatu cliff - one that I've always wanted to see.

The place is also perfect for photo ops! While posing comes naturally to some, I don't have an ounce of talent to strike those known pina-blogger poses. But when you have a good background and a great photographer, you'd be slayin'. Really.

Of course, more than just the breathtaking views, they also have a small science museum where kids and even adults can learn something new.

Periodic Table of Elements. I WAS actually good at this. Haha
And a pool and a restaurant that I have regrettably missed taking a photo of.

I am so grateful for the experience brought to us, the Davao Bloggers Society, by the Province of Davao Oriental. Even if it was an ordeal getting up very early in the morning (we had to travel from Mati to Caraga at 3am), it was all worth it and it's something I would definitely never want to miss.

    1. Hello! Thanks for dropping by. But I regret to inform you that I have no information regarding public transportation going to Pusan Point. We were on a private van when we went there. But I'm pretty sure it's easily accessible since the road going there is a paved concrete. :)

    1. It's Magic Temple. That's one of my favorite childhood movies. In fact, I still memorize the Buto-Kalansay rap. Haha
