Ilocos Norte: South Burgos Tour

By Sarah Aterrado - August 08, 2017

After enjoying the top tourist attractions in Pagudpud, we had our lunch at past 1:00 in the afternoon and headed to Burgos for our South Tour.

HOW TO GET AROUND ILOCOS NORTE
If you are going for a DIY tour, the best way to get around Ilocos is to ride a tricycle. You may opt for a cheaper alternative which is riding a bus albeit waiting for the next bus will just eat all your time up.

Once you get off from the bus, tricycles are just everywhere. They offer South (Burgos) and North (Pagudpud) tours at a standard rate. Each tour costs Php 600 (max of 3 pax per tricycle) and you will be taken to the following places:
South Tour (Burgos) North Tour (Pagudpud)
-Cape Bojeador Light House
-Kapurpurawan Rock Formation
-Bangui Windmills
-Kabigan Falls
-Bantay Abot Cave
-Patapat Viaduct
-Blue Lagoon Beach
Tricycles in Ilocos are quite small. So it is best to only have two people in one tricycle if you want to travel comfortably. You can do both South and North Tours in one day.

PLACES TO SEE IN BURGOS
Bangui Windmills. I've seen these gigantic windmills in Boracay before but I've never been this up close which has gotten me quite fascinated.

Kapurpurawan Rock Formation. This was on my bucket list and now you know why. The place looks gorgeous and stunning. Getting there requires a 10 to 15-minute easy trek. If you are not used to basking under the sun like us, bring a cap or an umbrella because it can get really hot especially when you go out on a midday.

Cape Bojeador. This is my first lighthouse experience. But I got disappointed when I learned they no longer allow people to climb the topmost part of the lighthouse. Well, for a 20-peso entrance fee, we were able to see old rooms with old furniture and learned a little about history. If you're not into history, then there's not much you can do but take photos. However, the deck gives you a scenic view of the land and seascapes which makes it worth your time going there.

That sums up our Ilocos Norte tour. Honestly, even though some things didn't come our way (we got ripped off by our tricycle driver during the last part of our tour and we were too tired to argue with him), we enjoyed every part of the trip. Partly because we didn't come during peak season that we had the attractions almost all to ourselves plus the weather cooperated really well. But mostly because I spent it with the love of my life. Just like what Charles Schulz said, it's not where you go, it's who you travel with. :)

Up next, Vigan tour! :)
