Double Weddings but Not Really

By Sarah Aterrado - August 20, 2018

December last year, two of my closest girl friends from the same circle had their weddings on the same day, same time, but different places. Sounds impossible but, yes, we were able to make it to both wedding ceremonies and receptions.

December 28, 2017. Claire and Karren's wedding.
And just recently, two of my closest guy friends invited me to their weddings on the same day and same time. How I wish I could pull off the same stunt I did before. But one wedding was held three hours away from where I live. An attempt to do another Kage Bunshin No Jutsu is certainly futile at this time.

Back then, being invited to a wedding, I was certain that choosing what dress to wear is the hardest thing to decide on. I never thought I'd come to this point where I have to choose between friends. And I can choose only one. Sigh.

So last Saturday, Jan and I drove all the way to GenSan to attend my high school barkada, Dave's wedding. He works in Dubai and I haven't seen him in a long time, so it's like a mini reunion for us.

I'd love to get into the wedding details but first, outfit! (Also, nobody really knows Dave so I'm making this post about me - which is what this blog is really all about)

I am sharing this because it's not all the time you can score a nice dress for Php 30 at ukay-ukay. I obviously need to accessorize, but I'm out of options (actually, I have none). I'm allergic to cheap jewelry. I get rashes or watery and rough patches whenever it gets in contact with my skin. Ironically, I do not have the luxury (and I'm not interested) to buy real ones. So until I find something that's really hypoallergenic, my OOTDs will scream bland and boring.

Going to a classy function in thrift outfits is not really a big deal for me. I could carry any outfit confidently but only for a certain period. That's because it wouldn't take long before I start slumping and losing grace and poise after denying blood circulation to my feet that I would start tripping and falling when there is literally nothing to trip over. The heels are murder.

Apparently, I gave up wearing high heels midway through the celebration. Jan told me to just wear sneakers with the dress and he thinks it looks chic. Which I think it really is.

Because of this, I shall be wearing sneakers on our wedding day. I told Jan we both would wear Onitsukas and he agrees to it. Para wala ng tiis-ganda. Puro ganda lang. Haha.

I had a blast. But I feel a little pang of guilt for not attending a childhood friend's wedding. I don't feel well today but I'm trying my best to feel better by watching pimple-popping videos just so I can go to our get-together later and make up for my absence last Saturday. I still have to come up with an excuse why I wasn't there even though the photos I was tagged on Facebook show where I actually was on a Saturday afternoon. Haha. Labyu. Peace.
