I was competitive in badminton. And by competitive, I mean I competed and won tournaments. So when pickleball became a thing, my ego couldn't bring myself to try it.
It felt like a downgrade to my first racket sport (table tennis is the second, by the way). Hyped, slower ball, and it has a name that sounds like my favorite side dish. I'm too badass for that. No, sir.
But you see, I had to help our class raise funds for our batch's alumni homecoming. And given pickleball's current popularity, it proved to be a practical choice. Not that I don't have a choice. But yes, I gave in and played.
It was very humbling.

Most of the time I didn't know what I was doing (I still don’t). My instincts kept pulling me back into badminton habits that do not work in pickleball. Naturally, I kept on flicking my wrists and my shots were everywhere. The scoreboard wasn't so kind. I took a seat at the bottom of the rankings. Not surprised there. Haha. But I had fun and I think I'm going to love it.

So yeah, I would like to believe nilamon na po ako ng sistema. Plus, the pickleball outfits are soooo cute! Although I'm not sure if I look cute o them. Haha. But for now, I'll stick to my running fits because this girl just got her first pickleball paddle today (emphasis on the first. lol), and is obviously broke again.
